Mediation Information

Mediation is a way to resolve business disputes in a private confidential setting with the assistance of a neutral third party whose role is to assist the parties in reaching an agreement on disputed items by identifying issues, exploring options, facilitating communication between the parties, and recording the agreements reached. Most business meditations end with a written and signed agreement. Because parties have created the terms of the agreement themselves, they are more likely to keep it. Mediation is non-judgmental, confidential, and voluntary.

Benefits of Mediation

Mediation is often a more efficient and less costly option than litigation for business disputes. While outcome of mediation is determined by the parties, the mediator helps the parties to listen, understand one another, and come to a mutually beneficial resolution. Mediation creates an opportunity for the situation to be resolved amicably, which is especially important for parties who will continue to work together.

Fees

The fee for business mediation is $200 per 90 minute session, typically paid by the employer/company or split between the parties involved. We also offer an income based sliding fee scale for those that qualify.

Scheduling a Mediation

After you reach out to us about a conflict, our staff will help you determine the best way to request that the other party participate in the mediation. Then, we will speak to the parties involved individually to learn more about their perspective on the situation. If everyone agrees to move forward, the mediation session will be scheduled.

 

Mediation sessions are generally scheduled for ninety minute time blocks. Many issues can be resolved in one ninety minute session, however, some conflicts may take multiple sessions to work through.
